Kenneth Sarvis, 71, of Curwensville, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital. Born Nov. 19, 1941 in Washington, NC, he was the son of Charlie Gilbert and Fannie Olivia (Buck) Sarvis.
Mr. Sarvis was a salesperson and first worked for International Harvester in Virginia selling IH and Peterbilt trucks. He then worked for Fred Diehl Motors of Clearfield, Zulick Chevrolet of Houtzdale, and Fullington Auto of Clearfield.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany guarding the Berlin Wall.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Curwensville, the Curwensville Area School District Board of Directors, the Curwensville Wrestling Club, the Curwensville Golden Tide Football Club, a coach in the Curwensville Little League, and a member of the Curwensville L.O.O.M. #268.
On Dec. 31, 1966 in Alexandria, VA, he wed the former Cheryl I. Hoover, who survives along with four children, Terri Ross and her husband, Randy of Grampian, Cheri Ross and Tammi Francisko and her husband, Dan, both of Curwensville, and Kenneth R. Sarvis II and his wife, Carrie of Madera.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a sister, Carolyn Medlin of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard, Bob, and Ted Sarvis.
Funeral services for Mr. Sarvis will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Robert J. Way officiating with Mr. Dick Hertlein delivering the Eulogy. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
