Minor injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident at 7:37 a.m. Saturday on Green Acre Road in Bigler Township. Hugh Caskey, 78, of Irvona was traveling northbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the slippery roadway. His vehicle traveled across the southbound lane and struck a tree. At that point, the Caskey vehicle broke into two, main pieces, rotated 180 degrees and struck a second tree. Caskey sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Altoona Hospital for further medical evaluation. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. State police were assisted by the Madera and Houtzdale fire departments and Madera EMS.
An incident of theft occurred sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Saturday on Glastonberry Street in Hawk Run, as someone removed $150 from a man’s residence. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Clearfield-based state police at 814-857-3800.
