Lena M. Beranty, 89, of Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg, formerly of Clearfield, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1923 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Hydock) Johnson. She was married to Louis Beranty, who died in 1983.
She’s survived by two daughters, Lorraine Emigh and her husband, Roy Jr. of Philipsburg and Loretta Johnson and her husband, Bob of Curwensville; a son, Louis Beranty of Port Matilda; four sisters, Pauline Zelenka of Michigan, Lucy Kebbel of Missouri, Grace Frank and her husband, Joe of Philipsburg and Claudia Bock and her husband, Walter of Philipsburg; two brothers, Donald Johnson and his wife, Barbara of Wilkes Barre and David Johnson of Allport; and three grandchildren, Alan Beranty, Michael Beranty and Daniel Mencer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one brother, Thomas Johnson and five sisters, Lillian Maney, Caroline “Carrie” Parada, Jane Johnson, Mary Perow and Bernice Kowalski.
She retired from Charles Navasky & Co., where she was a sewing machine operator. She was a former member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and currently attended Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. Fourth St. Philipsburg, with Fr. Robert J. Kelly as celebrant. Burial will be at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Philipsburg.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
