James Boyd Strong, 77, of Curwensville died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
Born Dec. 31, 1935 in Berwinsdale, he was the son of George and Marion (Straw) Strong.
Mr. Strong had been employed at the Westover Tannery. He also had driven garbage truck and worked in the woods. He was a former member of the Curwensville L.O.O.M. #268.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph Strong and his wife, Tracey and Thomas Strong, both of Curwensville and John Strong and his wife, Mary Ann of Mahaffey and a daughter, Lillian Shaddix of South Carolina.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Jean O’Dell and her husband, Jerry of Grampian, Sherlene Hudson and her husband, Dave of Curwensville and Letha Queen of Irvona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Dwayne and David Strong and two grandchildren, Alicia Strong and David Strong Jr.
Services for Mr. Strong will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Daniel Osterhout officiating. Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
