RUSH TOWNSHIP – The Philipsburg-based state police would like to warn the public of a telephone scam.
According to the report, an Osceola Mills woman has been receiving scam telephone calls at her place of business. She’s been asked to send money and her social security number, so that a group can assist her with legal issues. The woman doesn’t have any legal issues.
State police said this telephone scam is originating from countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia and India. The callers are using computers to make random telephone calls to people who they hope will respond quickly when advised they’re in some form of legal trouble.
