CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Hospital Hospice will host its 16th annual Chili Cook-off from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield Driving Park.
This year’s Chili Bowl theme is “Red Carpet.” All profits from this event will benefit the hospice program patients and families to cover expenses not covered by insurance.
This event provides lots of fun for the whole family and the community with planned and supervised children’s activities, live entertainment, and more. In addition, it’s easy to participate in one of three ways.
You can enter the cook off. If you have a mean chili, enter it. The registration fee is $25. You will be provided with a table, electric outlet and an official chili bowl apron. Bowls and spoons are available for public consumption of your special recipe.
You can sponsor a cook. If you can’t cook yourself, sponsor a table and provide a cook. The $25 registration fee doesn’t change.
You can consider a donation to hospice in the amount of your choice if you’re unable to enter or sponsor.
There are four categories, open, restaurant, church and physician judged by an illustrious panel of judges comprised of representatives from the communities that hospice serves. Winners are determined at the end of the taste testing and will be presented a plaque during the evening finale.
If your chili doesn’t place, you still have a chance to win by trying for the artistic award (best presentation), the spirit award (most enthusiastic), or the coveted humanitarian award (raising the most money for hospice), or the people’s choice award.
The registration deadline is Aug. 29 and is limited to the first 50 entries. For additional entry forms and or questions, please call hospice at 814-768-2012.
