BIGLER TOWNSHIP – A 72-year-old Ramey man, Edwin C. Grannis, was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Union and McCully streets in Bigler Township, reported the Clearfield-based state police.
Grannis was stopped on McCully Street, where he failed to see a tri-axle operated by Ethan R. Neville, 23, of Clearfield that was traveling northbound on Union Street. Grannis pulled out into the intersection and into the path of Neville.
Neville’s tri-axle subsequently struck the Grannis vehicle in the driver’s side door and caused it to exit the west berm of the roadway. There, the Grannis vehicle struck a stone wall and came to a rest.
Grannis died as a result of the injuries that he sustained in the accident. Neville wasn’t injured, state police said.
The Grannis vehicle sustained severe damage to its driver’s side and rear end. It was towed from the scene. The Neville tri-axle sustained severe damage to its front end and was also towed from the scene.
State police were assisted by the Ramey and Madera fire companies, Ramey EMS, PennDOT and towing services.
