SANDY TOWNSHIP – The investigation is continuing into a fire that ignited at 1 p.m. Friday on Bay Road near its intersection with Crooked Island Road in Sandy Township, according to the DuBois-based state police.
The Sandy Township fire and police departments and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit are investigating the origin and cause of the fire. The fire destroyed a single-family residence, and its cause remains undetermined at this time.
Damage was estimated at $400,000. The residence belonged to Russell L. Bernardo, 72, of DuBois, state police said.
