DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Municipal Authority authorized Sandy Township Manager Dick Castonguay to explore refinancing the authority’s sewer loan with PNC at Monday night’s meeting.
Castonguay told the authority that its savings could be around $2,000 each month in interest. He said, “Interest rates have come down substantially since we made that loan five years ago.”
He said the Chapter 91 report regarding Slab Run is still being compiled. He said that Slab Run is seeing 34,000 gallons per day, and the plant is running at 31 percent capacity and 22 percent capacity for organics. He said it’s running at 98 percent efficiency for removing organics.
Castonguay told the Sandy Township Supervisors that the Governor’s Action Team is requesting that the township reconsider reauthorizing the Keystone Opportunity Zone status of the former ICP building and property. He said there were ongoing negotiations with an unnamed company.
Castonguay added that Clearfield County and the DuBois Area School District would also have to agree with it.
The township supervisors voted in favor of reauthorizing the land’s KOZ status. Supervisor Jim Jeffers was not present at the meeting.
