Robert Cartwright, 90, of Tipton and formerly of Morrisdale, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the Altoona Regional Hospital. Born June 7, 1922 in Morrisdale, he was the son of the late Ray and Christine Summerville Cartwright.
Mr. Cartwright was a member of the St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run. He retired from Rushton Mines.
He was married to Susan Hurtack Cartwright, who preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 2011.
Mr. Cartwright was survived by two daughters, Sandra Sefchick and her husband, James of Tipton and Sharon Howe and her husband, Russell of Morann; two grandchildren, Todd Sefchick and Karen Gurekovich and her husband, Sean; and one great-grandchild, Luke Gurekovich.
Also surviving are three sisters, Betty Brilla, Judy Dennis and Linda Sanker and two brothers, Filson and James Cartwright.
A Divine Liturgy will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with the Father William Rupp as celebrant. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. A Parastas Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Panachida Service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
