CLEARFIELD – Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful announced it has opened registration for the 2013 Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania, according to a press release from the Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority.
Event coordinators have been invited to visit the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania Web site to register their events. This annual event is held in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup of Keep America Beautiful and in partnership with support from the state’s Department of Environmental Protection, PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association.
This year’s Great American Cleanup of PA will begin March 1 and end May 31. During that period, participants of registered events can obtain free garbage bags, gloves and safety vests from PennDOT district offices. Events consist of litter cleanups, illegal dump cleanups, beautification projects, special collections and educational events. Events must be registered through the Great American Cleanup of PA Web site for participants to get the free supplies.
As part of the event, the DEP and the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association are sponsoring “Let’s Pick It Up PA – Everyday.” During the “Pick It Up PA” Days, registered event coordinators will be able to take the collected garbage from their cleanups to participating landfills for free disposal. The “Let’s Pick It Up PA” event will begin April 20 and end May 6. The “focus day” will be April 20.
