HYDE – With a balanced scoring attack, the Bald Eagle Area (BEA) High School boys basketball team picked up win number 15 on the season with a convincing 68-26 victory over Clearfield Wednesday night on the Bison home floor.
The Eagles defeated Clearfield back in December, 79-50, and are now 15-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of Central Mountain, 59-52, two weeks ago.
BEA jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first quarter before Bison senior, Trey Jordan, dropped in a bucket with 4:19 to go in the first.
Clearfield didn’t fair much better the rest of the opening act and trailed 18-4 going in to the second eight minutes.
The Eagles cranked up their offense even more in the second frame as they outscored their hosts 23-11 to take a commanding 41-15 halftime lead.
Jordan did all he could to keep the Bison offense moving, dumping in eight second quarter points, on his way to a team high 12 on the night before fouling out early in the fourth stanza.
Just like the first half, it was all Bald Eagle Area in the second 16 minutes as it put 27 points on the scoreboard while holding Clearfield to just 11 as the game ended with the mercy rule coming into play with about a minute left.
Bryan Greene paced the Eagle offense with 16, while Dennis Fisher and Tony Riley, off of the bench, each had 10.
The Eagles won the first game of the night, in junior varsity action, beating Clearfield by a score of 57-48.
The Bison, 5-11, entertain Bellefonte on Friday night as the JV game tips-off at 6pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
In the first meeting of this season, on December 21, the Bison took the Red Raiders to triple overtime, pulling out a 51-50 victory in Bellefonte.
