Dorothy Elizabeth Luzier, 93, of Clearfield died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield. She was born Aug. 24, 1919 in Pottersdale, a daughter of the late William Isaac and Kathryn (Michaels) Showden.
Mrs. Luzier was a homemaker and served as the Girard Township auditor for many years. She attended the Community Alliance Church of Karthaus and was a former member of Girard Grange and secretary of Pomona Grange No. 33.
She is survived by three children, James Luzier Jr. and his wife, Helen of LeContes Mills and Thomas Luzier and his wife, Kim and Trudy Shaw and her husband, Jeff, all of Clearfield; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera Smith of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Luzier on Feb. 1, 2008 and whom she wed April 7, 1940 in LeContes Mills; a sister, Madeline Stalhman; and six brothers, Ira, Lewis, Robert, Isaac, John and her twin, Donald Showden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery, Shawville.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
