George Allen Shaffer, 62, of Grampian died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1950 in Altoona, a son of the late George S. and Donna V. (Lowther) Shaffer.
Mr. Shaffer was employed by Lezzer Lumber, Curwensville, as a truck driver. He had previously driven truck for the former Clearfield Cheese Co.
Mr. Shaffer was an avid outdoorsman, especially time spent hunting and fly fishing.
He was a member of Trout Unlimited.
He is survived by three children, Shannon G Shaffer of DuBois, Justin A. Shaffer of Portsmouth, VA and Deeanne M. Kline and herhusband, Aaron of Clarion; four grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Stanton and Marley and Jack Kline; three sisters, Deanne Elaine Shaffer, Rebecca Lee and her husband, Dennis and Kathleen Carol Lumadue, all of Curwensville; two nieces and a nephew; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, with the Rev. Emmett Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St., Clearfield.
