Russell Perks Sr., 68, of Grampian died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at his residence.
Born Oct. 10, 1944 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Enoch E. and Mary Jane (Fullington) Perks.
On Oct. 30, 1965, he married Diana (Bennett) Perks. She survives.
Mr. Perks retired as a supervisor for the Thomas Coal Company after 25 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Davie Tree as a certified tree surgeon for 11 years.
He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church, where he was a deacon and a trustee. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Russell Perks Jr. and his wife, Sandy of Luthersburg; and his daughter, Tina Bush and her husband, Jeff of Grampian; one sister, Sandra Thomas of Frewsburg, NY; one brother, Charles Perks of Philipsbur; six grandchildren, Tanya Kelly (Pat King); Michael Kelly (Karen); Justin, Eric and Mark Perks and Alyssa Bush; and four great-grandchildren, Matt Megofna, Dylan Kelly, Brok Kelly and Peyton Perks.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Terry; a son, Mark L. Perks; and three brothers, Paul Corsetti, Melvin and Larry Perks.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Charles M. Lee Jr. and Pastor Kevin Beard co-officiating.
Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
