KANE — The Curwensville Area High School girls basketball team never discovered its shooting touch until the fourth quarter and suffered a 59-31 loss to once-beaten Kane in an Allegheny Mountain League cross-over make-up game Wednesday night.
The Lady Tide, which opened the season with four wins, fell behind 13-4 after one period and trailed 28-11 at halftime in its second straight setback.
The Lady Wolves (7-1) continued their defensive pressure in the third quarter to salt away their fifth win in a row with a 23-point outburst.
They were led by Kaila Jamerson with 21 points. Nerissa Rich added 10.
Curwensville registered 16 of its points in the final eight minutes.
Becca Johnson and Tiffany Carter tallied eight and seven points, respectively, for the Lady Tide.
Kane also was victorious in the junior varsity game, 46-24. Haley McGarry paced Curwensville with 12 points.
First place in the Allegheny Mountain League South Division will be at stake Friday when Curwensville and DuBois Central Catholic match 2-0 records in Patton Hall.
