DECATUR TOWNSHIP – A 26-year-old healthcare worker was shot in the head Thursday during a routine visit to a woman’s residence on the 2600 block of Morgan Run Road in Decatur Township, according to WJAC-TV.
Police are neither releasing the motive nor any names at this time. However, police said the victim was employed by a homecare provider. She was making a routine visit to the suspect woman’s residence.
According to police, the two women allegedly engaged in an argument inside the residence. At that point, the suspect woman allegedly pulled out a .22-caliber gun and shot the healthcare worker in the side of her head.
After being shot, the healthcare worker drove a short distance before pulling over and calling for help. Police said that even though the victim was shot in the head, she was coherent and is expected to be OK. She was transported to the Altoona Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
The suspect woman surrendered upon police arrival at her residence. Police said when they searched the residence, they discovered the gun used in the alleged shooting and lots of blood.
Police are still determining the charges to be filed against the suspect woman.
