James W. Powers, 82, of DuBois died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born Dec. 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Daniel and Ada L. (Luce) Powers.
He was a graduate of Sandy High School.
On June 16, 1960, he married Judith W. (Winslow) Powers. She survives.
After many years of service, he retired from Beechwoods Flying Service.
He was a life member of the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department, where he was active on the parade committee. He enjoyed cooking and baking.
He is survived by his daughter, Jayme DeVault and her husband, Michael of Mocksville, NC; a brother, Lonnie Powers of Big Run; a sister, Delores Breck of Austin; two grandchildren, Gregory DeVault of Charlotte, NC and Zachery DeVault of Mocksville, NC.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Daniel, Emery, Max, Bernard, William, Clyde, Craig and Ord Powers and four sisters, Shirley Garthwaite, Gladys Machnik, Frances Powers and Donna Shoemaker.
As per the wishes of the family, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
