CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as William John Lamb Sr., 43, of Copelin Road, Philipsburg. Lamb was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Nov. 5.
On Sept. 9, 2011, Chief Timothy O’Leary of the Decatur Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Lamb with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by O’Leary states that on Aug. 16, 2011, the Decatur Township Police Department received a report of a theft of various pieces of metal from a residence located on Copelin Road in Decatur Township. Upon investigation it was found that Lamb had unlawfully removed approximately $2,800 worth of metal from the victim’s property.
A preliminary hearing was held July 18, at which time all charges were held to court. On Oct. 23, Lamb failed to appear for plea and sentencing court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers provided the location of Lamb. On Nov. 13, deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Lamb at a residence in Morrisdale.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
