HARRISBURG – Older Pennsylvanians are reminded that the deadline for Medicare annual enrollment is Friday.
Individuals are urged to utilize the state Department of Aging’s APPRISE program to determine a Medicare health plan that works for them.
The APPRISE program has trained volunteers who work through the local Area Agencies on Aging. They deal with questions and concerns of older adults and provide clear and concise information to help choose the right Medicare health and/or prescription plan.
To contact APPRISE, call toll-free, at 1-800-783-7067.
“Less than a week remains to make your determination,” Secretary of Aging Brian Duke said. “If you need guidance, you can speak with a trained APPRISE counselor who can provide information in clear terms and help you choose the plan that suits your needs.”
Older Pennsylvanians affected by Hurricane Sandy may be eligible for an extension if they are unable to choose a plan by the deadline. They can call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to compare their options and choose their plan. Requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
