RIDGWAY – A 13-year-old boy ignited a fire on an area rug inside a 76 Long Level Rd. residence sometime between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday in Ridgway Township. The fire has been ruled arson, according to the Ridgway-based state police.
The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire damaged a three-story Victorian residence that belonged to Krisha Lynn Buehler and Francis A. Milliard of Ridgway.
A 13-year-old boy poured an ignitable liquid on an area rug in the dining room of the residence. He then ignited the rug. The fire was contained to the rug and extinguished by an adult in the residence, state police said.
The fire department did not respond to the fire. Damage was minimal; there weren’t any injuries reported. The fire has been ruled as arson, state police said.
The incident was handled in accordance with established juvenile procedures for Elk County. The juvenile suspect was released to a relative.
