No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident at 3:25 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of North Centre and Laurel streets in Philipsburg Borough. Adam J. Smith, 19, of Philipsburg was traveling southbound on North Centre Street when he fell asleep. His vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a street sign and a bench. His vehicle came to a rest, facing west in the area of the Philipsburg Borough Building’s lawn. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He wasn’t injured. Smith was cited for the accident.
No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident at 6 a.m. Saturday on the Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township. Misty D. Riddle, 33, of Osceola Mills was traveling eastbound on a snow-covered roadway. As she was negotiating a right-hand-curve, she lost control of her vehicle and it began to spin. She slid off the left-hand side of the road and struck an embankment. Her vehicle came to a rest along the left shoulder of the road, facing west. Riddle was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. She wasn’t injured. She was cited for roadways laned for traffic. State police were assisted by the state’s Department of Transportation.
An incident of theft by unlawful taking or disposition occurred sometime between 12:01 a.m. Nov. 20 and 12 a.m. Wednesday in a wooded area near Lazymoon Drive in Taylor Township. Someone removed an oak tree without the consent of a 45-year-old Tyrone man. The tree was worth approximately $2,000. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
