Ward James Miller, 88, of Clearfield died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at his home. He was born May 31, 1924, a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Ives) Miller.
Mr. Miller retired from the Warren State Hospital, where he was employed in the maintenance department. He was a member of Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1785 and served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Manaham) Miller, whom he wed Feb. 7, 1970 in Warren; five children, Norma Hadely, Lewis Maines and Robin Harris, all of Florida; Mary Grumblatt and her husband, Mont of Clearfield; and Donna Singletary of Iowa; 17 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Maines and 16 brothers and sisters. Mr. Miller was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Posts Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
