Mary M. Waterworth-Whiting, 88, of Clearfield died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield. She was born June 15, 1924, a daughter of the late James and Carmella (Fama) Maiorana.
Mrs. Waterworth-Whiting worked as a nurse alongside her husband, Dr. Andrew J. Waterworth, in his practice in Clearfield. She loved books and enjoyed reading, gardening and golf.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Nurses Alumni Association of Clearfield Hospital and the former Martha Washington Lodge, Clearfield.
She is survived by five children, Samuel J. Waterworth and his wife Kimberly, of Silver Springs, MD; Catherine W. Honan and her husband, William of New York, NY; Andrew J. Waterworth Jr. and his wife, Adrienne of Boca Raton, FL; Mary Jane W. French and her husband, Richard of Curwensville; and Robert M. Waterworth and his wife, Kimberly of Clarksville, MD.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, Perry, Andrew, Natalie and Jake Waterworth, Travis French and Beth Wisor and her husband, Curt; a great grandson, Liam Wisor; three sisters, Caren Graves of Florida, Jane Lodico of Virginia and Kathryn Maiorana of Dubois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Andrew J. Waterworth, on June 29, 1987 and her second husband, Edgar B. Whiting on January 3, 2009; two sisters, Teresa Amon and Rose Maiorana; and three brothers, John, Anthony and Joseph Maiorana.
In accordance of Mrs. Waterworth-Whiting’s wishes, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Hospital, 809 Turnpike Ave., Clearfield.
