TYRONE – Officials at the Tyrone Hospital have announced that Sharon Fisher, RN, MSN nursing supervisor has been promoted to the position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). As CNO, Fisher will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational direction of Tyrone Hospital’s nursing services.
Fisher is a seasoned nursing professional with more than 18 years of experience in nursing management as well as hands-on patient care. Â
Fisher earned her Master’s degree in nursing at West Haven University in Salt Lake City, Utah.   She also earned Associate’s degrees in nursing at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson and in business administration at Penn State University.
Prior to joining Tyrone Hospital, Fisher worked for more than 13 years at Fulton County Medical Center, serving for the majority of that time as director of Patient Care Services. While at Fulton County Medical Center, Fisher’s responsibilities as a nursing leader were steadily increased. She first held a position as coordinator of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ED) and then served as Acute Care Coordinator until she assumed responsibility for all of nursing as director of Patient Care Services.
Her professional experience includes staff nursing positions in the Intensive Care Unit at J.C Blair Memorial Hospital and at Home Nursing Agency. She also worked as a nursing supervisor at Woodland Retirement Center.
Fisher is certified in critical care, basic life support and advanced cardiac life support. She is also certified as a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC).
Fisher is the daughter of Stephen and Catherine Stoudnour of Saxton. She resides in Broad Top with her husband, Kevin and their son, Nathaniel.
Her professional memberships include the National Rural Health Association and the Pennsylvania Nurses Association.
