CLEARFIELD – Children who are hospitalized at Clearfield Hospital will find their stay a little more comfortable thanks to a grant from Brady’s Smile.
Brady’s Smile, a children’s charity founded by Matt and Annie (Flegal) Hinton in memory of their son Brady, recently presented a grant to the hospital to create a pediatric comfort cart in memory of the late Dr. Gregory S. Sheffo, who was a pediatrician at the hospital.
“We at Brady’s Smile are thrilled to fund a new comfort cart for the pediatrics team at Clearfield Hospital. We hope the hospital’s smallest patients enjoy the contents of the cart and it helps make their time in the hospital a little easier. We are honored to donate this cart in loving memory of our great friend, Dr. Sheffo,” said Matt and Annie.
“We will continue to work with Clearfield Hospital and Clearfield Center for Children’s Care to provide additional children’s services to our local Clearfield community.”
Items on the comfort cart include coloring and sticker books, stuffed animals, card games and books. In addition, Brady’s Smile approved the purchases of a television with DVD, a Wii game system, and children’s video games and movies.
“We are grateful for the support of Brady’s Smile. The children, the little ones especially, are afraid when they come in. When we give the child a gift, it eases the fear and makes for better rapport between the child and the nurses. And, the Wii will be a big hit with the older children,” said Betsy Solida, a registered nurse on the medical-surgical floor.
Brady’s Smile is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) children’s charity with a mission of helping make life easier for sick children. Brady’s Smile offers four intensive care unit (ICU) children’s-based programs at 14 hospitals across seven states, four of which are in Pennsylvania.
