BELLEFONTE –PennDOT alerts drivers to expect delays today on Route 26 in the area of the Bellefonte/161 interchange of I-80. Crews are continuing preservation work on the bridges spanning I-80 in this area. Route 26 near the 161 interchange will be reduced to a single lane, with an alternating traffic pattern through most of the day Wednesday.
The alternating traffic pattern will be enforced by flaggers and travel delays will cause back-ups on Route 26. Drivers should plan for extra travel time and be prepared for stopped or slowed traffic through the area. Â
HRI Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $3.2 million bridge rehabilitation project. PennDOT reminds drivers to proceed with caution through all construction zones and always buckle up.
