Dorothy Jane Peters, 85, of Newark, DE and formerly of Curwensville died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the Millcroft Nursing Center in Newark. Born May 29, 1927 in Pike Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of Cleo and Pauline (Paschke) Rowles.
Mrs. Peters was retired as a seamstress for the former Kent Sportswear in Curwensville. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Curwensville, the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 118C and was an avid reader.
On March 16, 1951 she wed Victor Peters, who preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Rowles; and a sister, Betty Cupp. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are three children, Edward Rowles and wife, Cindy of Newark, DE; Susan Loddo and her husband, Chris of Macedonia, OH; and Paul Peters and his wife, Jeanne of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sister-in-laws, Rosemary Peters of Stewart, FL; Eleanor Peters of Clearfield; and Martha Rowles of Niagara Falls, NY.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peters will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
