Anna Jean Black, 88, of Clearfield died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at the Clearfield Hospital. She was born Dec. 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Trood D. and Fay Anna (Hoover) Parker.
Mrs. Black was employed as a registered nurse for the Lawrence Township School District as well as the Clearfield Hospital. She graduated from the Clearfield School of Nursing in 1945.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, for more than 67 years and previously served as a deacon.
She is survived by her son, David L. Black and his wife, Susan of Bel Alton, MD; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. ‘Ted’ Black on Aug. 17, 2005 and whom she wed Aug. 23, 1946 at the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Trood and Paul W. Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, with the Rev. J. Robert Mellgard and Mr. Richard Barkley officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield.
