Dispatch has confirmed that SR 219 has re-opened after being closed for several hours because of a fire in Horton Township. Motorists are advised that firefighters are still at the scene so they’re asked to be patient while driving through the area.
HORTON TOWNSHIP – Firefighters from Clearfield, Jefferson and Elk counties responded to a fire that ignited at 5:17 a.m. this morning at a residence along state Route 219.
Horton Township fire officials told WJAC-TV that four people were inside at the time of the fire. Everyone escaped the residence and is OK.
Officials said they haven’t determined the cause of the fire. However, they believe it could have originated in the garage area.
SR 219 from County Line Road to the SR 153 interchange is closed. Motorists who are traveling north on SR 219 are being detoured onto Keystone Road.
A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is currently at scene to investigate the fire. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
