James Edward Elias, 89 of DuBois died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at his residence.
Born Feb. 10, 1923 in Crenshaw, he was the son of the late Frank and Ethel (Johnson) Elias.
Mr. Elias served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war.
He was a graduate of Slippery Rock University.
On Nov. 29, 1952, he married Nardina L. Fatubeno. She preceded him in death May 17, 2010.
He worked at John Hancock and Metropolitan Life.
Mr. Elias was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Blue Army.
He loved to spend time with his family.
He’s survived by his children, James F. Elias, Angela “Angie” M. Elias and Mrs. Daniel (Mary Ann) Vilkinofsky, all of DuBois; a brother, Herb Elias of Butler; two sisters, Joyce Grecco of Brockway and Alma Cappetta of Brockport; one grandson, James Elias; and one great-grandson, Dylan Fezell.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia L. Elias and his brother, Donald Elias.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
A ritual service will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday by members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded.
