UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State senior linebacker Michael Mauti (Mandeville, La.) was chosen as the Iron Workers Local Union No. 3 "Ironman of the Game" for his performance against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Mauti received the most fan votes of the four nominees this week to win these honors for the third time this season.
Mauti turned in yet again another relentless effort for the Nittany Lions defense this past Saturday night in Beaver Stadium against the Buckeyes. The senior linebacker tied a career-high with 13 tackles on Saturday, marking this game as his third time this season with at least 10 tackles. Mauti is currently tied for third in the Big Ten with 78 tackles (9.8 tpg), tied for second in interceptions (3) and forced fumbles (2).
This year’s "Ironman of the Game" winners have included Mauti, previously, for both the Virginia and Illinois games, Allen Robinson (Southfield, Mich.) for the Ohio game, Michael Zordich (Youngstown, Ohio) for the Navy game, Matt McGloin (Scranton, Pa.) for the Temple game, Gerald Hodges (Paulsboro, N.J) for the Northwestern game and Bill Belton (Sicklerville, N.J.) for the Iowa game.
