CLEARFIELD – The case against a 31-year-old Mahaffey man who has been accused of raping a 15-year-old girl back on Sept. 27, 2010 will be sent to the jury this afternoon at the Clearfield County Courthouse.
James L. Turner Jr., 31, of Mahaffey is facing charges of rape; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with person less than 16 years of age; statutory sexual assault; indecent assault with person less than 16 years of age; and corruption of minors. Turner is currently free on $50,000 unsecured bail.
Judge Paul E. Cherry dismissed the jury for a brief lunch break shortly after 12 p.m. He asked jurors to reconvene at 12:40 p.m. at which time he will present the charges. Prior to the lunch break, Cherry said he anticipated his charge to last approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
Jurors are likely to begin their deliberations at approximately 1:15 p.m.
