CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners today have proclaimed the existence of a disaster emergency due to Hurricane Sandy and directed all available county resources and personnel to be applied to mitigate the situation.
According to the proclamation, the county has been monitoring the ongoing projections made in the county’s direction by the National Weather Service. These projections have disclosed that Hurricane Sandy will strike both Pennsylvania and Clearfield County.
Hurricane Sandy has the potential to cause widespread heavy rains and high winds throughout the commonwealth. This, in turn, poses a serious threat to flooding and other adverse impacts throughout the state and Clearfield County, states the proclamation.
The super-storm may result in excessive damage to roads, streets, bridges, private homes, businesses, etc. It may cause other adverse impacts upon the general population of Pennsylvania and Clearfield County.
According to the proclamation, these storm conditions have to the potential to cause excessive power outages, road closures, community public safety delays, property damage and other significant impacts throughout the state and county.
