The Last Word
Dustin: “Best game of the week, Brees vs. Manning. That is gonna be an offensive night as both have strong arms, great receivers, and are by far two of the best throwers in the league. Worst game of the week has to be Redskins vs. Steelers. It’s not the fact that it’s R.G. III against Big Ben, because I’m looking forward to that. But it’s the first of two games the Steelers are gonna wear those eyesore throwback uniforms. The tan pants, striped socks, and bumble bee jerseys. Seriously, THAT was the look of this team 80 years ago…lord have mercy on my eyes.”
Rusty: “Easy picks for Clearfield and Curwensville. Juniata Valley will be too tough for the Warriors. I hate to have to pick Port Allegany, due to the fact that they have only played one team with a winning record this season, but they have too many weapons for a Brockway “D” that has given up a lot of points on the season. I think the Nittany Lions have finally won me over. Kansas State and Texas Tech should be a huge shoot-out, but K-state has the better defense. Oklahoma should derail the Irish and the pro games are just a crap shoot.”
Chris: “At one time, Clearfield and P-O was a pretty good rivalry. Not anymore. The Bison will have this game in hand in the first quarter. They could probably score 100 points if they wanted to (the Mounties are that bad). As for Nittany Nation, I simply cannot see the Lions winning this one. Yes, they’re 5-2 and unbeaten in the conference. However, they really haven’t been tested yet. The Buckeyes have the nation’s best coach in Urban Meyer. I like the Buckeyes in a tight ballgame. Steelers will have to neutralize RGIII if they are going to get above .500.”
Jay: “Clearfield in a rout to end regular season undefeated. Curwensville will take out some frustrations on a decent Sheffield squad. Port in a high-scoring affair. I think the over-under in that one is about 80! PSU in the white-out at the ‘Ineligible Bowl’. Picking K-State every week. ND has had some close calls, not this week. Just guessing, as usual, in the NFL.”
Dave: “Curwensville should bounce back against an overmatched Sheffield squad – but the game of the week is CLEARLY Brockway-Port, wish I could go watch that game. 700-800 total yards of offense would not surprise me at all, especially with good weather forecast for Friday. Bill O’Brien is coach of the Year, and I seriously doubt Urban Meyer would have handled the situation this well (of course, Meyer would never have taken the job) – Jay’s right, this IS PSU’s bowl (I think OSU thinks Michigan is theirs) and I think McGloin pulls them through. If RGIII had a little more experience I’d pick the Redskins – Steelers have trouble with mobile QBs – but I think LeBeau has a few tricks up his sleeve for the youngster. Can’t pick the Saints in Denver – too big of a homefield advantage – but don’t look for a lot of defense in that game either.”
