ROCKVIEW – The Rockview-based state police initiated a search yesterday afternoon for an escaped Centre County Jail inmate and have also released a be-on-the-alert to Clearfield law enforcement agencies.
Larry Allen Thomas, 40, was incarcerated at the jail. He was on work release yesterday afternoon at Centre Peace in Bellefonte when he walked away from his yard work duties.
He was last seen between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Friday on Interstate 80 eastbound at mile marker 70, which is adjacent to U.S. Route 322. He had clothing items and five gallons of gasoline provided to him at that time.
Thomas informed individuals at 2 p.m. that he was headed toward Clearfield. Clearfield Borough police said Thomas has acquaintances in the Shawville area and knows a woman in Clearfield.
Thomas is operating a dark blue 2008 Chevrolet Colorado regular cab pick-up truck. The truck bears the Pennsylvania registration of YMD3215; it has damage to its right, rear bedside and bumper areas. The truck was allegedly stolen over the evening hours from Hall’s Drilling along state Route 64 in Walker Township.
State police described Thomas as standing approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has green eyes, brown hair and a Goethe. He has a strong southern accent and tattoos of a skull on his left forearm; a bear on his right forearm; and a tiger on his left shoulder.
He was wearing a gray hoody and dark gray Adidas shorts with three, white stripes on them. He was also wearing dark green and orange sneakers.
