CENTRE COUNTY – Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky’s attorneys filed an appeal in his child sex abuse case Thursday afternoon, according to GantDaily.com news partner WJAC-TV.
On Oct. 9, Sandusky was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison for his conviction of 45 counts of child sexual abuse. Just after being sentenced, his defense attorney Joe Amendola addressed the media and said Sandusky was ready to start the appellate process within the next 10 days.
In June, Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse for molesting 10 boys over a 15-year period. Sandusky and his attorneys have maintained his innocence. For the 68-year-old Sandusky, the punishment handed down by Judge John Cleland is effectively a life sentence.
