Marcia Kathleen Polkinghorn, 89, a resident of Clearfield for more than 87 years and most recently of Mahtomedi, MN, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at The Gables of Boutwells Landing in Stillwater, MN.
She was born Feb. 1, 1923 in Boardman, a daughter of the late George E. and Janet A. (Duckett) Lennox Jr.
Mrs. Polkinghorn retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation after 15 years of proud service.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield, the Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary as well as a volunteer for the Cottage Shop at the hospital. She also belonged to the American Association of Retired People, the Golden Bison Association and the AFSCME – Retired Chapter No. 13. In addition, she was a member and charter member of the Keystone Travel Trailer Club, the Clear Du Trailer Club, Family Campers and RVers and the Good Sam Trailer Club.
She is survived by her son, William H. Polkinghorn Jr. and his wife, Vicki of Stillwater, MN; three granddaughters, Karin of New York, Kristin and her husband, Ben and Kellie, all of Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Leigh and James Lyle; and special friends, Cindy, Mark, Hunter and Evan Strittmatter of Indiana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William H. Polkinghorn Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Pry officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
