BELLEFONTE — The Clearfield Area High School Junior Varsity football team won their third game in a row Monday night when they blasted the homestanding Bellefonte Red Raiders 41-6.
The six points Clearfield gave up to Bellefonte were the first points given up over the last three weeks. The Bison raised their record to 5-1 with the blowout victory.
Clearfield got the scoring going early with Sawyer Rowles connecting on two TD passes in the first quarter – a 47-yarder to Jake Wingate and a 13-yarder to Josh Sorbera. Jesus Rosa ran in a 2-point conversion to give Clearfield a 14-0 lead.
Bellefonte countered with a long touchdown run to make the score 14-6, but that was as close as the Red Raiders would ever get as Clearfield blew the game open in the second frame when Eric Sellers accounted for three touchdowns to make the score 34-6 at the half. Sellers ran in one score then threw TD passes to Rowles and Jake Lansberry.
Rowles capped the scoring for the game in the third quarter when he scored on a 12-yard run. Sorbera’s PAT set the final at 41-6.
Clearfield will host the next three games to finish out their season with Tyrone heading to the Bison Sports Complex on October 15 to begin the three game homestand.
