CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced today that charges have been filed against a 31-year-old Glen Hope man, Christopher Lee Reams, for the alleged rape of two children.
On Friday Trooper Terry Jordan of the Clearfield-based state police filed two, separate criminal complaints, charging Reams with rape of child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault, indecent assault and indecent exposure.
The criminal complaints state that in August, the state police initiated an investigation into the rape of two children. Upon investigation it was found that between March of 2010 and March of 2011, Reams had allegedly sexually molested an 8-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. Both children were interviewed as part of the investigation and reported that Reams had inappropriately touched them and had sexual relations with them at a residence in Chest Township.
On Friday Reams was apprehended and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James A. Hawkins. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday; Hawkins set Reams’ bail at $200,000. He’s currently incarcerated in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw was pleased with the investigative efforts of the state police in this matter. Shaw also noted that complaints of this nature are extremely troubling and every effort must be made to identify, investigate and prosecute child molesters.
