UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State junior Maya Hayes (West Orange, N.J.) has earned weekly Big Ten honors for her second consecutive week after her three-goal performance this past weekend. Hayes was named Offensive Player of the Week for her one goal at Ohio State Sept. 27 and two goals against Minnesota on Sunday (Sept. 30).
Penn State is coming off a big 4-3 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers this past Sunday. The Nittany Lions’ four goals came on two apiece from junior Maya Hayes (West Orange, N.J.) and sophomore Whitney Church (Ashburn, Va.). Additionally in Thursday’s 3-0 win at Ohio State, Hayes netted one goal. The junior is currently second on the team in scoring in just five games played.
