CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners opened bids for the Probation Pole Building at Tuesday’s workshop meeting.
The commissioners received the following bids for the project: 765-DECk, Clearfield, $61,289; WW Gildersleeve & Son, Treasure Lake, $ 93,500; Hallstrom Construction, DuBois, $117,690; John Spearly Construction, Bellefonte, $124,879; and Haas Building Solutions, State College, $145,300.
The commissioners tabled the bids upon review by the engineer.
In other business, the commissioners proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month at the request of Marsha Learish of the Crossroads.
Learish explained that filings of protection from abuse orders and services are up for Clearfield County. She said like other human service agencies, their funding is down.
She said the Crossroads is still looking for a safe house in the DuBois area and they’re welcome to suggestions from the public.
The commissioners also reappointed Joe Kendrick as a farmer director to the Clearfield County Conservation District for a term to end Dec. 31, 2016.
