CLEARFIELD — The Clearfield fall baseball team split with State College at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field Sunday after having a doubleheader with Moshannon Valley rained out Saturday.
A seven-run first inning and the pitching of Thomas Summers, who won his third game in four decisions, keyed the hosts’ 9-4 victory in the opener.
Wyatt Westen paced an eight-hit attack with two doubles and a single, while Zack Timchak and Cale Walker chipped in with two singles apiece. Matt Josephson doubled and drove in two runs.
State College shut out Clearfield 7-0 in the nightcap with Nick Smith picking up the win and Jake Simmons collecting half of the visitors’ six hits.
Clearfield, now 6-3-1, will entertain Moshannon Valley Thursday at 4:15 p.m. and travel to Bellefonte Sunday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
