John Hajzak, 95, of Morrisdale and formerly of Osceola Mills, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at the Dayspring Personal Care Home in Morrisdale.
Born March 4, 1917 in Osceola Mills, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Palochko) Hajzak. He was married to Patricia (Patterson) Hajzak, who preceded him in death Feb. 17, 1986.
Mr. Hajzak was of the Christian faith. He was a life member of the Hope Fire Company in Philipsburg. He was a U.S. and Canadian Army Veteran of World War II.
He retired from the maintenance department of the Philipsburg-Osceola Elementary School and worked at the former Buick Garage in Philipsburg. He was a 1935 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by, two sisters, Mary Yanik and Ann Bearor; four brothers, George, Michal, Steve and Paul Hajzak; a granddaughter, Julie Williams; and a grandson, John Stephen Frank.
Mr. Hajzak is survived by two daughters, Ruth Williams and her husband Jack of Woodland and Mary Ann Frank and her companion, Aaron JR Cole of Milesburg; a son, John Paul Hajzak and his wife, Lynne of Hesston; two brothers, Peter Hajzak and his wife, Rosemary of Bermington, NC and Andrew Hajzak and his wife, Delores of Osceola Mills; eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA, with the Rev. Hiram Westover officiating. Burial will be at the Centre Cemetery in Rural Osceola Mills.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
