CLEARFIELD – Clearfield swept a doubleheader from Moshannon Valley Saturday and split with Altoona Sunday in fall baseball action at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field.
Cole Kephart and Cale Walker were the winning pitchers in the 9-8 and 14-3 victories over Mo Valley.
A seven-run fourth inning was the key in the first game as Josh Kennedy and Matt Josephson drove in two runs apiece and Kephart doubled. Josh Lannen tripled for Mo Valley.
In the nightcap, shortened to five innings because of the Mercy Rule, Thomas Summers belted a grand slam home run and a double while Zach Timchak rapped three singles good for three RBIs to pace a nine-hit attack. Noah Cline added a double.
Summers got the win while Cline and Christian Flood doubled as Clearfield blanked Altoona 5-0 in the second game of their doubleheader after the visitors rolled up a 12-4 win in a game called after six innings because of the time limit.
Curtis Collins singled twice and Wyatt Westen took the loss. Winning pitcher Alex Lytle had three singles for Altoona.
Clearfield (5-2-1) is booked for another pair of 1 p.m. twinbills next weekend, Saturday at Moshannon Valley and Sunday at home against State College.
