Beverly Rachel Thacik, 75, of Curwensville died Wednesday Sept. 19, 2012 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1936 in Morgan Run, West Decatur, she was the daughter of Arthur and Gracie (Yarger) Philips. Mrs. Thacik was retired from the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville after many years of service as a button sewer. She attended St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville and was an avid gardener.
On June 28, 1963 in Curwensville, she wed Thomas J. Thacik, who survives along with four sons, Greg Thacik and his fiancée, Tracy Bell of Curwensville, Arthur Mains and his wife, Marlene of Franklin, Audie Maines of Greencastle and James Maines and his wife, Janet of Chambersburg.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters, Samuel Philips and his companion, Iva Bush and James Philips and his wife, Carolyn, all of Morgan Run, Foss Philips and her companion, Eddy Gonzales of Bigler, Ron Philips and his wife, Jackie of West Decatur, Dorothy Morris of Woodland and Carol Beck and her husband, Gilbert of Houtzdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Murph and Stanley Philips and two sisters, Faye and Mabel Philips.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thacik will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
