Mavis B. Schott, 95, of DuBois died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 16, 1916 in Birmingham, AL, she was the daughter of the late Commodore and Mamie (Smithers) Byrd.
She was married to Alvin Schott. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1958.
During World War II, she worked at Sylvania in Emporium. She had also worked as a clerk at various stores in Johnsonburg.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the DuBois Area Historical Society, where she was a past officer and she was an RSVP volunteer for 24 years delivering meals on wheels into her 90’s.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Schott and his wife, Virginia of DuBois; two sisters, Elsie Johnson of Lancaster and Lois Wheeler of West Mifflin.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Curtis Byrd and one sister, Elzada Raybuck.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with Pastor Robert Way officiating.
Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park located in McKean County.
