CLEARFIELD – A new bridge spanning Bilger Run on state Route 879 between Curwensville and Grampian is expected to open to traffic on Tuesday. Work to replace the structurally deficient bridge began in April. Once the new bridge is open late in the day on Tuesday, the list of structurally deficient bridges in Clearfield County will be shorter by one.
Paving is scheduled for Monday with removal of approaches to the temporary road scheduled for Tuesday, along with the traffic switch. All work prior to opening the new bridge is weather dependent.
Along with replacing the bridge, work includes guiderail updates, minor approach work, seeding and pavement markings. Some of this work will be done in the coming weeks and daylight lane restrictions with flagging may be necessary.
Francis J. Palo Inc. of Clarion has been the contractor on this $2.5 million project. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, move through work zones with caution, and always buckle up.
