CLEARFIELD — The Clearfield fall baseball team opened its season with a 5-5 tie and a 13-3win against Bellefonte at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field Sunday afternoon.
In the opener, halted after seven innings because of the time limit, Christian Flood drove in two runs for coach Sid Lansberry’s team.
Wyatt Westen had two singles and two RBIs, Josh Kennedy doubled and Thomas Summers was the winning pitcher in the nightcap that ended in the bottom of the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule.
Bellefonte’s top hitters were Nigel Grandy with a home run in the first game and Zack Williams with a double in the second game.
Clearfield will travel to State College Sunday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
The remainder of the schedule shows twinbills at home against Moshannon Valley Sept. 22 and Altoona Sept. 23, at Moshannon Valley on Sept. 29, home against State College on Sept. 30, at Bellefonte on Oct. 7 and at Altoona on Oct. 14.
Lansberry hopes to add another doubleheader for Oct. 21.
