SHIPPENVILLE – A pair of quarterbacks share the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Player of the Week honors for the opening week of the 2012 season.
Clearfield’s Christian Lezzer and Port Allegany’s Matt Bodamer both had stellar opening-game performances in helping their teams to victories.
Lezzer was involved in five touchdowns in four different ways for Clearfield in a 35-20 win over Canada’s St. Joan Arc Catholic. He was 5-for-11 passing for 124 yards and two touchdowns, ran 13 times for 103 yards and a touchdown, caught a 16-yard touchdown pass and returned a fumble three yards for a score.
Bodamer, meanwhile, continued his assault on the record books in Port Allegany’s 54-0 win over Johnsonburg. The senior was 15-for-19 passing for 338 yards and five touchdowns while adding 10 carries for 34 yards and three scores. The five throwing scores gives him 90 touchdown passes in his career, five shy of the District 9 record of 95 set two years ago by Brockway’s Derek Buganza.
Joining Lezzer and Bodamer in being honored are 14 additional players who are on the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Honor Roll after outstanding games over the weekend.
